In other countries, Square is gaining traction from day to day. With a similar concept is being developed in Malaysia by SoftSpace, allowing sellers to accept payment using an additional device which is plugged into iPad, iPhone or even iPod Touch.
It is still unknown whether SoftSpace has gained the permission from the Bank Negara Malaysia or not, since it involves money transaction. However, looking at the website it self, seems that they have recieved approval from EMV, allowing the major cards are accepted through the system.
As for the technology used, it seems like the device is similar to the iZettle. It is unknown whether SoftSpace have some kind of joint-venture with iZettle or else. We have contacted SoftSpace, and will update with more information regarding it soon.
