[ENGLISH] POLITICAL PARTY IN MALAYSIA USES ‘DRAW SOMETHING’ IN THEIR POLITICAL JOKE

Draw Something, an iOS/Android app that recently been downloaded up to 30 millions in 6 weeks has become an app that is actively discussed, among users, tech news portals and investors. This app requires the player to guess the drawing that has been drawn by their opponent, using the letters supplied.

Recently in Malaysia, an artwork was published in Democratic Action Party (DAP) Facebook Fan Page. The picture below is a parody for a prominent politic member that is involved in National Feedlot Center case. The picture clearly takes Draw Something game concepts as inspiration and the main idea.

It is quite interesting to witness this scenario, as the amount of smartphone users in Malaysia are growing. Furthermore, the upcoming Malaysia elections has a lot of young voters who are voting for the first time. DAP seems to be employing an aggressive online strategy to gain young voters. Angry Birds characters has been also used in by a political party previously in their election campaign for Sarawak.

In last few weeks, there was an app launched to help users know the Malaysian Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak has done during his tenure. We believe that “cyber-campaigning” will be dominating the 13rd Malaysia Election that may happen soon this year.
